1 September - History and Importance of the Day



1715 - King Louis XIV of France died after a reign of 72 years—the longest of any major European monarch.

1875 Tarzan of the Apes creator Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950) was born in Chicago.

1906 - The International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI) was established.

1939  German army invaded Poland. 

1969 Military officers overthrew the Libyan government. The Libyan Arab Republic was then proclaimed under Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.
